School Wide Related
Elementary School provides a Character Education Program for all Elementary students. The Elementary School Character Education Program meets once a week to promote Character Education. Teachers prepare many different types of activities to engage students in learning and practicing positive character traits such as honesty, responsibility and empathy.
Character Education is a normal part of the curriculum at the Middle and High School levels. All teachers teach, model, and reinforce positive character traits to all students. Teachers use the TYAS Teachers Handbook and the Parent and Student Handbook to help guide and reinforce student behavior. Teachers and School Level Directors meet with students individually to help reinforce ethical behavior.
No. We are an American School and we currently follow the California State Standards, Common Core curriculum and teach a variety of Advanced Placement Courses.
The Advanced Placement (AP) program gives high school students an opportunity to pursue college-level studies while still in high school. AP courses allow students to emphasize subjects which they are good at. Students can raise their GPA and when they apply for college, they will be able to demonstrate their academic advantage.
The library is located on the 5th floor. We have a book drive every year and we always accept donated books.
Student related
Depends on the number of students, now we only have 1 class for each grade. If the number surpasses the limit, we will separate students moderately. There is one class for each grade 1 through 12 except grade 3 which has 2 classes.
Student Affairs related
If your child needs medication while at school, please be sure to see and speak with the school nurse regarding any medications. If your child needs to take medication prescribed by a doctor you need to follow KAS procedures: 1) your child needs a prescription signed by a physician, 2) properly labeled medication containers are required before medication can be brought to school (including over-the-counter medication), 3) If a child carries an inhaler for asthma, the school must be notified in writing by the parent accompanied by the doctor’s note. Our procedures are intended to support the safety and well being of all students requiring any kind of medication while attending school.
