Chris Williamson

Chris joined the Taoyuan American School family as Principal in 2018. He earned his M.A.Ed. from Florida Atlantic University with a Major in Educational Leadership, his B.A. from Saginaw Valley State University, Majoring in Social Sciences and Minoring in Physical and Health Education and Certification from the College of Education, and has Certification for English as a Second Language and Bilingual Education from the American College of Education. He is certified in Educational Leadership and Social Science from the State of Florida. Chris has 23 years of teaching and administration experience that includes 15 years at Broward County Public Schools and the past 8 years in Taiwan. He has experience with WASC and CIS accreditation, IB MYP and DP programs, and the College Board Advanced Placement Program. He served in the United States Army stationed in Germany. Chris enjoys travelling and enjoying a variety of sights, sounds, and food with his wife and son.

VICE Principal

Peter Havenga

Peter joined TYAS in 2018, and is currently the Vice Principal. He attended the North West University in South-Africa, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. He is certified in Business Studies and Life Orientation. Peter has been an educator, coach and leader for ten years. Having experience in elementary, middle and high school teaching, he values the roles played by all members of the school community. He emphasizes the importance of developing each student in his/her own capacity, while fostering community values within the school. Peter enjoys outdoor activities, traveling and spending time with family.
