AP Courses

    TYAS AP Program

The College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Program is a set of courses that teach college level material to advanced high school students. AP courses are beneficial for students, because these courses further challenge the ideas and ability of advanced learners, college admissions often look for students who have taken AP courses, and passing the AP exams at the end of the year could potentially earn the students credit at their future college.

    .

Taoyuan American School began to teach AP courses in the fall of 2016 with AP Calculus AB and AP World History. Over the past five years, TYAS has grown its AP program to include many more classes in a rotating course roster. Our courses today include AP 2-D Art and Design, AP Calculus AB, AP Chinese Language and Culture, AP Computer Science AAP Drawing, AP English Literature and Composition, AP European History, AP Physics 1, and AP World History. Many of our students also opt to take the AP exam for subjects that they are interested in, but were not able to be offered that year.

    .

In addition to offering AP courses, TYAS also hosts the yearly AP Exam for our students and the students of other neighboring schools in and around Taoyuan County. Any TYAS students interested in taking the AP Exam in May are encouraged to discuss this with their teachers. Any teachers of other schools interested in asking TYAS to host the AP Exam for their students are encouraged to contact the AP Coordinator for TYAS, Mr. Williamson (cwilliamson@tyas.tyc.edu.tw).
