At Taoyuan American School, safeguarding means ensuring that every student feels safe—physically, emotionally, and socially. We believe that a secure and caring environment allows students to thrive, grow, and reach their full potential.
Our mission guides our safeguarding commitment: Our school is committed to fostering holistic development and preparing students for lifelong success. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive education that nurtures academic accomplishment while fostering the social and emotional well-being of each learner. We aim to cultivate diligent, resilient, and adaptable global citizens and equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to pursue lifelong learning and personal fulfillment.
By embedding safeguarding into our values and mission, TYAS commits to:
At TYAS, safeguarding is at the heart of who we are. Together, we create a community where every student can feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn.
At Taoyuan American School, we believe every child deserves to learn and grow in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. Bullying, harassment, and discrimination—whether physical, verbal, social, or online—have no place in our community.
Our Anti-Bullying Policy makes it clear: we will not tolerate any behavior that harms the dignity or well-being of others. This includes bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, and discrimination based on race, gender, identity, religion, or ability.
To ensure our entire community understands this commitment, both students and parents sign an Anti-Bullying Policy Receipt each year. By signing, families affirm that they understand that TYAS has zero tolerance for bullying and agree to work in partnership with the school to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
Together, we are building a culture of kindness, respect, and inclusion where every student feels safe, supported, and empowered to succeed.
At Taoyuan American School, we believe that a student's emotional health is just as important as their academic success. That's why we have dedicated policies and supports in place for mental health and suicide prevention.
Our Emotional Well-Being Specialist works closely with students, teachers, and families to provide early support, counseling, and resources for those who may be struggling.
Whether it's managing stress, building resilience, or addressing more serious concerns, our goal is to ensure every student has a safe space to be heard and supported.
TYAS also integrates emotional well-being into the classroom experience through advisory programs, workshops, and awareness activities. When needed, we connect families with external counseling and community resources to ensure students have access to the care they need.
By combining early identification, direct support, and a culture of care, TYAS is committed to helping every child thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.
At TYAS, your child's safety is our top priority. All staff members undergo strict police background and reference checks, and we verify their qualifications before they begin work. Every teacher and staff member completes child protection training and signs a code of conduct that clearly defines professional expectations.
We also renew police background checks every two years and provide ongoing safeguarding training to ensure our standards remain strong. With these measures in place, families can be confident that TYAS is committed to maintaining a safe, supportive, and trustworthy environment for every student.
