TYAS High School STUCO Supports The Star Sports Organization
At TYAS, we believe in fostering a spirit of service and giving back to the community. This past Christmas season, our High School Student Council (STUCO) successfully raised funds during the Christmas Bazaar to support The Star Sports Organization (星兒天空), a nonprofit dedicated to helping children and adults with autism achieve "an independent future."
The Star Sports Organization provides a comprehensive support network for individuals with autism and their families, ensuring access to essential education, therapy, and opportunities for social integration. Through activities such as basketball, swimming, running, board games, and arts, the organization helps enhance social participation and adaptability. These programs foster communication, cooperation, and independence, empowering children with autism in their daily lives and learning.
One of our very own students, Morris Huang (G11), has been an active volunteer with the organization. He has dedicated his time to teaching participants the game of Go (圍棋), helping them develop strategic thinking and social interaction skills. As part of his ongoing commitment, Morris also helped document the donation handover, capturing special moments from the visit.
Although our students had planned to create a Christmas card for the organization, they were unable to complete it before final exams. However, Morris will likely send another card later, and The Star Sports Organization will be providing us with a certificate of appreciation.
The dedication of volunteers like Morris, along with the generous contributions from our TYAS community, exemplifies our commitment to making a meaningful impact. Together, we are fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for children and families affected by autism.
